To create a local COBOL project

Local COBOL projects are ones stored on the same machine as Enterprise Developer. To create remote projects (that is those stored on a remote Development Hub), see Creating Remote Projects.

To create a local COBOL project:

  1. While in the Team Developer perspective, click File > New > Project.
  2. In the New Project dialog box, expand Micro Focus COBOL or JVM Projects.
  3. Select the required project type (such as COBOL Project, Mainframe COBOL Project, etc...), and then click Next.

The New Project wizard for the relevant project type is displayed.

  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the project.
  5. Select a project template associated with the selected project type. If required, you can select Browse for template and navigate to an alternative template to use.
Note: By default, two templates are available for you to choose from: Micro Focus template [32 bit] or Micro Focus template [64 bit]; others may be available if the template preferences have been previously configured. Alternatively, click Browse for template and select another template.
  6. Leave Use default location selected to create the project in the current workspace location, or clear Use default location and enter a different location in the Location field.
  7. If you have selected the COBOL /Java Interoperability project type or one of the types from the JVM Projects folder, click Next (COBOL /Java Interoperability project only), and select which version of the Java runtime to use with the project, from the JRE section.
  8. Click Finish.

The project is created and appears in the Application Explorer view.
